Our calculator is based on the emission factors and methodology published by New Zealand's Ministry for the Environment (MfE) in September 2009. We have added extra vehicle options, using emission factors published by the UK's Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) in June 2007, and adopted a more conservative approach to measuring emissions from air travel.

Our calculator determines the carbon footprint generated by the activity data you enter. To determine your annual carbon footprint, enter data for an entire year. To determine the footprint associated with your last flight, enter its type and distance.
